"Thanks." He didn't want to give up. But he wasn't really sure what he was doing wrong. Watching Trowa more carefully, he adjusted how he was positioning his arms and tried to make his motions flow. They were supposed to flow together, just like the push and pull of the water. He'd heard that the first benders had watched the elements and learned to control them by working with the elements, not against them.
So, maybe he was trying too hard? It was definitely making his motions stiff and lifeless. And water wasn't stiff. It adjusted to change, filled gaps, and pushed against anything in its way, yet was forgiving. He'd always trusted the ebb and flow of the emotions he could feel, so if he could just translate that trust to water, then maybe he would start making some progress.
