Hello hello!
Since I said this in the intros for my other games, I'll repeat myself here: I'm a fanfiction veteran of about 13 years - ten of those years writing yaoi for the Gundam Wing fandom, (don't you dare judge me!), before I switched to doing the same for Soul Eater. I am entirely new to both DW and Plurk, (think I've been here for 60 days now?), and came to make friends while doing something I'm passionate about. Unlike some of my more..."colorful"?...muses, I am completely safe and do not bite, smash, or dissect at random, so please feel free to friend and entertain me. :3
Though I'm on CST, my career choice conveniently warrants I get paid to stare at a computer screen for 8 hours a day. That means if you tag me at some odd/inconvenient hour, I'm likely online and can get back to you pretty quickly.
On a personal level, I enjoy video games, pop music in all languages other than English, handmaking crossplays, and writing a lot of internal dialogue.Sorryboutit.
I think that about covers it! I'm happy to be here, and looking forward to writing with everyone in the near future! X3 /waves

Date: 2013-06-04 11:17 pm (UTC)I'm not proud of it, but...tch, hell yes I'm proud of it! There's a room in my house slowly being taken over by it. But, sadly, since I can't draw what I want to see like some of my friends, I'm more inclined to stare at pretty pictures and write. X3no subject
Date: 2013-06-04 11:26 pm (UTC)Writing is a lost art sometimes.

Date: 2013-06-05 01:52 am (UTC)I was starting to believe it. I have a bad tendency to scare people off with my tl;dr magic.

Date: 2013-06-05 12:51 am (UTC)I'm shocked by finding active GW RPers. XD To be honest, I'm blown away that that fandom, at 15+ years old, still has more of a following than my current fandom, which is airing on Toonami and still ongoing in Japan. /falls over @.@ Ah well...

Date: 2013-06-05 01:11 am (UTC)Also, older series that can hold up against new ones (GW, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, DBZ, Eva, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, etc) were such gateway anime for Americans that its hard for us to let go of that history. I mean almost every fan I know that got into anime between '95 - '05 started with one of those, watching on Cartoon Network. If they started with something else, it was a copy of a copy of a copy of a bootleg fan sub on VHS that they got from their friend's cousin's internet friend from Japan or something.
Now there's just so much saturation everywhere, and more and more comes over to the US every year so not everyone is watching the same 3 shows that year.
.../stops lecture mode/
*tl;dr warning*
Date: 2013-06-05 01:27 am (UTC)You actually have a huge point. GW was my gateway drug for both more mainstream/domestic anime, (Eva, Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin, in that order exactly for me), and more shonen ai/yaoi series like Junjou Romantica and KKM. Plus, I'm always shocked when someone tells me they haven't seen one of "the classics". Guess I just never thought GW was among them. XD These days, Funimation dubs a new anime a day it seems, and only a few of them actually take hold. I've even adopted more of a "wait and see if this catches on, then watch it" style of anime selection, myself.
Plus, what's up with all these newer neverending monstermorph series that just won't die?! I'm looking at you, Fairy Tail! Aaaaanyway... /end rant
Fun little story I just decided I have to tell:
I actually first got into GW because my friends were equally divided on the question of Quatre's sexuality and needed me to be the tiebreaker vote. (I kid you not.) Two full episodes later, I returned with my opinion.
Some 13 years later at Anime Central, (couple of weeks ago now), someone posed the same question to the voice of Quatre himself, Brad Swaile.
Without thought, I whipped around in my seat and yelled, "Of course he is!"
#GWyaoifangirlFTW! XD
Re: *tl;dr warning*
Date: 2013-06-05 01:46 am (UTC)My group of friends basically tried to get our hands on anything and everything, including by buying VCDs of fansubs cause torrents weren't a thing in the dark ages. But GW was on Cartoon Network and the fandom was huge at the time, so it was easy to get into. Sadly my friends were um...conservative Christians soooo the issue of slash was not brought up very much and I kinda got into that part of the fandom by myself.
And yes, Quatre so very, very gay. Oi vey people, he wears pink and his most important CR in the show is worrying over Trowa...and worrying over Heero. >_>
Brad is completely adorable. He builds Gundam models and is such a geek amoung geeks. I was so fucking nervous meeting him that I basically handed him something to sign and then retreated so fast afterwards. Admittedly this was just after HS, it was the second largest con I'd been to and it was in another country, so. Got to meet Scott McNeil that weekend too though...and it was...um, one of the best guest meets I've ever had. I was one of three people running the art/fanfic room for the whole weekend so we didn't really get to leave the room to go to panels. One of the con goers had mentioned that the art/fanfic room was being run by 3 GW fans but they couldn't leave. So he came by, sat down at one of the tables and starts drawing with crayons proclaiming that it was the best room ever because we had crayons!
*continued tl;dr warning* XD
Date: 2013-06-05 03:12 am (UTC)The friends who got me into GW weren't necessarily into slash, which I find rather amusing. In fact, one of my best friends at the time was insistent that Quatre was straight, which is just laughable. Funny thing is, I never saw Trowa and Quatre as a controversial - or even non-canon - pairing. I watched the series, saw the way they interacted, and said "Aww cute! They love each other!". And that was that. I had no idea of the, shall we say "implications"? of my conclusion. Love was love, and I called it like I saw it. There was nothing abnormal about it, either. Yay growing up in California, I guess? XD (At least that's what these Midwesterners I live among tell me.)
The more I think about it, the more I realize I really owe a lot to the GW fandom. Not only was it my first anime and fandom, it was what brought me my first girlfriend, my closest best friend, and introduced me to the world of RP and fanfic. Suppose I really should give credit where credit is due. :3
Brad is fantastic! And yes, he's a massive dork, but that only heightens the cuteness. XD I had no idea he makes AMVs and sews plushies! Talented man, that Brad. And your story is amazing! So jealous. I had to duck out of his autograph line at ACen and hand-off my precious boxset to a friend to have signed because my partner and I were running late to a BBC cosplay photoshoot. :( But at least I got to go to his panel and have questions answered. AND I got it on video, too! \o/
Someday I aspire to meet Scott McNeil. I hear he's hilarious. But honestly, the ultimate goal is to one day meet Kirby Morrow. *___* And then have to be resuscitated shortly afterward. XD
Re: *continued tl;dr warning* XD
Date: 2013-06-05 03:27 am (UTC)I want to meet Kirby and Mark (who I walked right passed at a con and kicked myself for it later). But honestly...I get to meet other super cool VAs every year at Kumoricon and probably spend more time with them than most fans during a con. So I count my self lucky. How many people can say they got stuck at the airport with Todd Haberkorn and his friends for over an hour, or just sit down and have a one-on-one dinner with Sonny Strait? I love my con job so much! @__@
Re: *continued tl;dr warning* XD
Date: 2013-06-05 02:18 pm (UTC)Lucky! :S I just got into staffing cons...this year, actually. Wow. Seems like longer. I staffed a local yaoi convention, and between my partner, (director of the big spring con), and one of our good friends, (director or con ops for every other con), I've pretty much been roped into being on staff for every KC area convention this year and next. @.@ I'm pretty new to cons as a whole, honestly. My first convention was Anime Expo 2010. Quit my job to go to that con, after my employer spent the previous four years telling me I couldn't have the time off for it. Bam! XD #diehardnerd
